The Future Of Street Dance
What's happening in the future? It's the answer we all want to know and this section of the website deals specifically with that. Look at the articles below to get a better understanding of what is likely to happen and why.
A few key things can be gathered...
1. Interest In Street Dance Will Continue To Grow
As long as TV programs are giving exposure to street dance there will be new generations of youngsters interested in street dance. Even if you take away these TV shows, there is the presence of YouTube and other self publishing video sites which would suggest it will still grow with a fairly healthy underground scene.
2. Dance Shows & Competitions Will Continue To Be Breeding Grounds
This is the continuation of the current trend that the artists that make their way to screen will often be seen performing in public long before their big breaks.
3. Technical Dancers To Get More Exposure
Those dancers and choreographers that are technically adept and respected by their colleagues and working already in the industry will begin to get more recognition as people become more knowledgeable about what makes a good dancer.
4. Watering Down Of Original Techniques
Every now and again dancers with little technical ability and lots of luck may get a break. These can then inspire new dancers who will want to be like them.
Many choreographers and dance teachers are also getting further away from the source. For example locking emerged in the 60s and popping in the 70s. That's 40 or 50 years away from the source and the OGs that were first doing the style.
This means new takes on existing concepts will emerge (a positive), and also a negative side effect in that many original techniques will become watered down.
